Salary Range:  $50,756 - $99,021, PLUS employer-paid retirement, and generous benefits package

Hours:  40 hours per week

Days:  192 days per year

Overview: 

The Coach advocates for, facilitates, and supports the work of the teacher, but never performs supervisory evaluations.  Coaches are in place for the purpose of supporting ongoing, embedded, and relevant professional development for teachers.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Oregon Teaching License
  • Knowledge of research related to MTSS
  • Effective and demonstrated skills in:
    • Working collaboratively with various groups within the school and community
    • Gaining consensus in groups and among various audiences
    • Leadership
    • Extensive experience with reading instruction
    • Planning, developing and evaluating programs
    • Written and oral communication
    • Interpersonal skills with individuals, teams and groups (student, parent, educator, specialist, administrator and support staff)
    • Providing curriculum and instructional strategy consultation
    • Time management
    • Problem-solving and development of solutions
    • Planning and facilitating meetings
    • Collection, analysis and use of data for decision-making

 

Preferred training and/or experience in the following District strategies:

  • Bilingual
  • Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies
  • RTI
  • Universal Design for Learning
  • Professional Learning Communities

 

Reports to: Coach will report directly to High School Principal and will be responsible to other school administration.

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

Facilitate the Coaching Cycle with teachers and teams of teachers:

  • Support teachers with new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement.
  • Assist teachers in identifying the academic needs of students and determine which evidence-based practices will bridge learning gaps.
  • Model best instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrations.
  • Work in partnership with teachers to plan instruction.
  • Collaborate with teacher teams to set goals to improve instruction and to solve problems that limit student achievement.
  • Upon the teacher’s request, make informal classroom observations and provide immediate feedback for the purpose of instructional support and program improvement (non-evaluative).
  • Maintain confidentiality.  Coaches will not share specific information regarding individual teachers or classrooms.
  • Assist teachers with Educational Technology.

 

Use Parkrose instructional framework:

  • Assist teachers in designing, delivering and assessing instruction.
  • Provide guidance on district-wide goals and standards.
  • Facilitate alignment of individual, school and district goals.
  • Support learning at the administrative level throughout the district.

Effectively use data to determine student instructional needs:

  • Play a very strong role in the analysis and utilization of student achievement data to impact instructional decision-making (s/he should not be responsible for the administration of assessments, collection of assessment data, or management of data systems).
  • Help teachers and teams develop formative assessments.
  • Facilitate grade level or collaborative teams processing of student data and plan future lessons.

Provide professional development for all teachers:

  • Collaborate with teachers, coaches, administrators and other personnel to identify professional development needs.
  • Collaborate with coaches, administrators and other personnel to create/plan professional development.
  • Provide on-site staff development to ensure teacher knowledge of academic standards, content, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.
  • Provide opportunities for teachers to go in and observe their peers.
  • Provide professional development materials for teachers (including: exit slips, sign in sheets, and certificates of professional development)
  • Record all Professional Development information on Professional Development Calendar. 

 

Participate in personal development/collaboration opportunities:

  • Attend all district coaching meetings.
  • Stay current in areas of content, curriculum design and researched based instructional practices.
  • Participate in District sponsored in-service offerings, PLC meetings, etc. appropriate to assignment. Performs other duties which may be assigned.
