Hourly Rate: $24.74 to $32.56 per hour DOE; PLUS, employer-paid retirement, and generous benefits package (Job Classification N2)
Days: Monday – Friday
Work Calendar: 260 days per year (based on full calendar work year)

Overview: The job of “Lead Custodian” is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; documenting information, resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns, ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary. Job Requirements:
•Prior job-related experience
•Regular attendance needs to be maintained
•Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood Borne Pathogens Control Plan and Personal Protective Equipment
•High School diploma or equivalent
•Multicultural Competency
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
•Ability to work independently and make mature, responsible decisions. The maintenance supervisor and/orlead custodian is not always on site.
•Ability to work as a team leader, for custodial staff including training & communication.
•Skills to use cleaning agents; supplies and equipment; perform basic math to calculate accurate dilution ofcleaning agents.
•Knowledge of methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, supplies, safe work practices and HVACoperation.
•Ability to lift a maximum of 75 pounds
•Ability to push or pull a minimum of 75 pounds
•Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, follow oral and written instructions, adhere to safe work practices,work independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks, and adjust to flexible assignmentslifting/carrying/pushing/pulling /stooping / reaching/handling, near/far visual acuity/depth perception
•Ability to drive a district vehicle to deliver food and supplies to different school sites
License, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
•Current Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance
•Blood Borne Pathogen Training Required – If not taken, employee must participate in Blood Pathogen Training at MESD within two months of hire. The District will pay the cost of the course but is done on employee’s own time unless scheduled on shift time.
•SafeSchools Training (provided online by District)
•Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost to the employee: $12.50 for fingerprints; $66.00 for criminalbackground check – one-time payroll deduction)

Position Details:
•Clean assigned school facilities (i.e., classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, gyms, locker rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
•Work cooperatively with the custodial/maintenance supervisor, lead custodians and other high school and custodial staff.
•Ensure cleanliness and safety needs are met in the building. Follow all safety protocols.
•Assure that the facility is properly prepared and maintained.
•Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings,classroom activities and events.
•Deliver a variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties.
•Notify the supervisor of any facility (i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, sidewalks, fences, roads, etc.) issues that need repair or maintenance.
•Communicate orally, in writing and via email (mandatory) for the purpose of coordinating to maintain a clean, safe and secure facility. Ability to provide written communication to convey information.
•Request materials, equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items as needed to properly maintain facility.
•Respond to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, roof leaks, body fluid incidents, graffiti, plumbing,animal excrement, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
•Secure facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety.
Other Job Functions:
•Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of theirwork activities.
•Perform minor repairs for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
•Assist in the training and leading of other custodial staff.
